Orlando City Council on August 13, in approving the $8.5 million purchase of 1,36 acres of property to expand Lake Eola Park, added a hitch.
Council said that five semi-historic houses, will be made available FREE, but the lucky people who get them will have to pay to have them moved.
Mayor Buddy Dyer made it clear: “We’re not going to lave five buildings, we’re going to have open green space”, adding “This is really a once-a-generation opportunity to expand that park. They’re not serving up new land around Lake Eola, so this is a unique opportunity for us.”
